Double Roman

Double Romans are always in stock in varying sizes and profiles, as they were manufactured by many companies throughout Somerset and beyond. Probably the best tiles were made in Bridgwater, and are stamped with the manufacturers name; Barham Bros, Somerset Trading Company, Coulthurst Symons, and John Board to name but a few of the best known Bridgwater companies making high quality tiles.

Double Romans were made in several colours and finishes, the best known colour being natural terracotta red, which, after more than fifty years of weathering, is now a mellow weathered red, improving with age, unlike concrete roofing tiles which generally fade to a somewhat insipid tone over a period of years.
